Life Expectancy

It is commonly believed that people are living longer and that this puts an extra strain on communities. The average age of death in different societies has certainly increased. However, it may be that rather than people living longer less people are dying young. This would affect the average age of death while not actually changing how long people live if they get to old age. This change in younger people not dying could be in part due to safer working practices, vaccination and treatment of diseases that tended to kill younger people.

BXI is looking at the statistics to ascertain if people are living longer and if so by how much. We are also concerned about the implication for resources if people are indeed living longer.
